My name is Liam Dunne, I’m a senior at Western Reserve Academy in northeast Ohio. I grew up just outside of Ithaca, New York, where FreshDirt began. My parents published four issues of FreshDirt Ithaca between 2010 and 2014, their local green-living magazine. Unsurprisingly, it had an enormous influence on me and this publication. After years of being inspired by stories just like the ones I’ve written, I decided to make my own. Branching away from FreshDirt Ithaca, I expanded the magazine to encompass social justice, while still maintaining my environmentalist roots. Environmental justice is social justice; I want to highlight the creativity and beauty I’ve found in these movements within each article, as well as my magazine as a whole.
